Attendees will either leave from the U. S. on Friday, June 29, arriving in Paris the morning of June 30, or will arrive on theEurostar on June 29 and enjoy a free evening in Paris! Our hotel is the 3-star, air conditioned Hotel Mercure, 3 rue Caulaincourt, 75018 Paris. You will be in a small group of 8-10 people and your group leader will take you to our first session at noon on Saturday, June 30, at the Regional Conservatoire of Paris, which is close to the hotel.

New this year will be four study sessions/master classes taught by Parisian organists at major churches. During the day you may choose between playing the organ at a famous church, attending one of the study sessions, or have a private or small group lesson.

The study sessions options are:

You can choose to go to one or all of these interchangeably.

We usually have anywhere from 50 - 70 people in Paris. However, of those people, about half actually play. The others are friends, spouses, non-players, etc. We divide people into four groups and have concurrent seminars, if necessary, so that everyone gets ample playing time. We have different options going on at the same time, so if you want to go with 4 or 5 other people to spend the evening playing at St. Augustin, you can. Or, you can go to an improvisation class at St. Severin with Francois Espinasse or Christoph Mantoux. Or you can go with Kurt Lueders on an organ tour of Paris.

Of course - there's St. Sulpice. We are there twice - one evening with Daniel Roth with him lecturing and playing for us - a wonderful night! Another session or two, depending on how many want to play, where we play at St. Sulpice with the help of Sophie Choplin.

Marie Louise Langlais oversees everything, and opens up the conservatory during the week for us to have private and group lessons, and to practice. Sometimes the group gives a recital at St. Roch. Last time we gave two, one at St. Eustach of Guillou and Florentz, with Guillou present; and one at St. Roch. But this time we probably won't, unless we have a lot of people who want to play one.

We will schedule extra times for people to play at certain organs by request after our regular schedule has been made (in February or March).

From June 30 - July 2 our seminar will run concurrently with the "Choral Festival Langlais," which will be a special tribute to Jean Langlais in honor of the 100th anniversary of his birth. On Sunday morning, July 1, FOMS participants can choose to sing Langlais' Messe Solennelle with the combined choirs during the mass at the Cathedral of Notre Dame, or they can sit with the organist in one of the many famous Parisian organ lofts. You may also choose to participate in any of the other festival sessions. See www.internationalmust.com for more information.

Regular and study sessions will be held at the famous churches and conservatories, including Notre Dame, St. Severin, St. Sulpice, St. Etienne du Mont, Notre Dame d'Auteuil, La Madeleine, St. Roch, St. Augustin, La Trinite, the Conservatoire Regionale de Paris, and the Schola Cantorum, with groups alternating so that there will be ample time for each person to play. Private and small group lessons are available at an additional charge.
